this is the library's 3rd annual gingerbread display. i took a call at work the other day from the local tv station and they will be coming on monday to do a spot for their broadcast. the first year i made a horse barn, last year a log cabin and this year it is a lighthouse.
here you have my components,
this is the assembled lighthouse
here it is complete with 'snow' and ready to be delivered to the library
there are swedish red fish frolicking out near the rocks. i have pasta shells, dyed red, for accents along the path and seams of the buildings. if i could have figured out how to make a bird from tootsie rolls there would be a gull perched on a rock somewhere but what i can see in my head and get my fingers to make are sometimes worlds apart.

how on earth are you going to transport that to the library? Very impressive, Mom.
yf drove....let me off right at the door. i just had to keep my hand on the right spot for balance. and thank you.
yeah, I think we talked about this. WE will come to Iowa on the 23rd or 24th, and then leave on the 26th to go to Kahl's. I thought you said CHristmas eve at DOnna's, Christmas day at IVa's.
This is wonderful! A retrospective of your gingerbread designs is in order... Did you get some TV time?
i certainly didn't (i wasn't there in the a.m.) and i forgot to watch the broadcast to see if the lighthouse did. and i turned down the photog for our local paper when she came in to get shots of it. turns out she spent her childhood summers in the groton/new london area so it made a big hit with her. the paper comes out tomorrow so it will be interesting to see what beth has to say.
You are much too modest.
